H.O.P.E. is a support group for home
schooling families in Davidson County, NC. We were founded in 1989.
Purpose statement:
Homes Offering Purposeful Education, Inc. is an
association of parents from Davidson County and surrounding counties who
have undertaken the responsibility and challenge of educating their
children at home. Parents have a constitutional right and a
God-given responsibility to provide an education for each of their
children. For parents who have been called to home education this
responsibility is made easier with the support of other home schooling
parents. Our goal is to support and encourage fellow home educators
to achieve excellence in their home schooling experience.
H.O.P.E. is meant to add a delightful
dimension to your family's home schooling experience. Field trips
and special activities are planned so that children can have enriching
experiences that otherwise would be more difficult, more expensive, or
just impossible without a group. Children and their parents develop
close relationships. Mothers share ideas with each other.
Monthly meetings cover a variety of pertinent topics such as the
following: Legislative updates, curriculum, book reviews, field trips,
resources, teaching tips, etc. During the school year monthly meetings are
usually held on the first Thursday of each month, and field trips are
usually scheduled for the third Thursday of the month.
